How to prepare your PDF files for printing on newsprint with The Pueblo Chieftain

A guide for better Photoshop Color Reproduction.

How to submit a press-ready PDF?

CMYK should be used. Our processing can convert Pantone spot colors and RGB colors to CMYK values but a color shift will occur and unexpected results are likely.

100% Black Text only. No four-color rich black or RGB black should be used in your document.

If you are using InDesign to prepare files be sure to check your Preferences for Appearance of Black. Select Display all blacks accurately and Print all blacks accurately. Deselect Overprint black swatch at 100% because we prefer to Knockout black text in printing.

Pages can be submitted as multiple pages or Single pages. It is important we know which pages you are printing in color as our processing does enable us to convert CMYK files to Grayscale when necessary.

Dimensions for printing for individual jobs are directly related to the paper web size we are using and the finished product you are looking for. Full Bleeds, margins, facing pages using gutters are considerations that vary in each job.

We print 100 line screen. Photos and artwork should be a minimum of 200ppi (pixels per inch) at the size used. 300ppi is the default in most photo imaging programs.
